If your ready to ski in some great powder them book your flight to Reno Tahoe Airport the gateway to Lake Tahoe now. Driving in the Mountains can be dangerous. Carry chains and drive slowly.
Insanity is repeatedly doing the same thing while expecting new results.
Kicking off tomorrow, Wednesday, September 11th, the Reno Air Races begin a week of low-fast flying wing-to-wing. It is a great visual event. I will be attending on Wednesday and Saturday. Last year I enjoyed the event on Sunday. There was an arial presentation by the F-22 Raptor that was amazing. Thrust Vectoring creates incredible opportunities for US Air Superiority.
This photo (above left) is of a plane in the Aviation Heritage Foundation ramp area. Currently there are seven airplanes. With many more arriving tonight there will be a total of more then 30 airplanes in this area. They are historic airplanes and a real joy to walk around.
I was looking to book a flight to a coastal city today. Southwest Airlines interactive route map is very helpful. I was able to see that nonstop coastal cities from Reno were Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles and San Diego. I was hoping to do a day trip but flights were a little to full to go standby. So I had to pass. Were having a stay-cation.

Dear TWU Local 555 Members,
We met with the company and federal mediator in Dallas on June 13th and 14th. Rather than accept language that was detrimental to our members we agreed to keep current contract language in Articles 1, 7, 8, 9 15, 25 and 31. During this session we also tried to address the company's "problem" with seasonal staffing while still using our own members for the work; but it became apparent that seasonal staffing was not their real problem when the company presented us with a proposal that would have increased part-time workers to forty percent system-wide. As with many of the company's previous proposals, this proposal demanded concessions: eliminating family health care coverage and reducing the number of full-time jobs. The company failed to address any of our key issues and remained committed to their goals of reducing benefits, diminishing job security, and undermining full-time employment. After seeing no realistic movement, the mediator decided not to schedule any more meetings at this time. The mediator will check with both parties periodically and will schedule future meetings if he sees the potential for progress.
It has become obvious that the company is in no hurry to reach an agreement. In the meantime, you suffer because your wages flatten, your medical costs increase, and your work compounds as you are taxed to do the job of two or more people. This has to stop. We must draw the company away from their efforts of labeling labor as a problem and help them realize that we're the backbone of this company. No flight leaves or arrives without the members of Local 555! Our current agreement is one of, if not, the best in the industry. We stand committed to defending years of progress, and refuse to give in to the company's requests to compromise your job security, benefits, and pay. Stay strong and united as we move towards improving the industry's leading contract.

You may have heard that the TSA was moving to allow small blades and box cutters thru their checkpoints. This change would have allowed the same weapons from 9/11/2001 to be brought onboard every US aircraft. The statement below was issued today.
The TSA has withdrawn their effort to amend the list of prohibited items. Therefore, small knives and some sporting equipment are prohibited from being brought onto airplanes. The list of prohibited items list will stay the same as it is today, and the TSA will retain the current prohibited items list for the foreseeable future.
